Misilli Foundation Set to Hold 4th School Enrolment Programme for Out-of-School, Vulnerable Children in Gombe

The Misilli Community Development Foundation (MCDF) will on Sunday, 20th September 2026, hold the fourth edition of its annual School Enrolment Programme for out-of-school and vulnerable children.

The programme, which has become an annual intervention of the Foundation, is designed to complement government efforts to ensure that children who face economic, social or other barriers to education are given the opportunity to enrol, attend and remain in school.

Since its inception, the programme has progressively supported children with school enrolment and essential educational materials, while introducing additional interventions aimed at promoting regular attendance and improving school retention.

Previous editions have provided beneficiaries with school uniforms, bags, books and other learning materials, alongside other incentives intended to ease some of the financial pressures confronting vulnerable families and enable their children to remain in school.

The initiative also complements the efforts of the Gombe State Government, under the leadership of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, to address the challenge of out-of-school children. The government, through the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and in collaboration with partners including the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) and UNICEF, has undertaken various enrolment and education-support initiatives aimed at bringing more children into formal education and ensuring their retention and completion.

For the Misilli Foundation, however, the objective extends beyond simply getting children into classrooms. The Foundation believes that every child, regardless of circumstances or background, deserves the opportunity to learn, develop their potential and build a better future.

The fourth edition will bring together beneficiaries, parents, community leaders, education stakeholders, partners and well-wishers as the Foundation welcomes another set of children into its education support programme.

The exercise is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. tomorrow Sunday, 20th September 2026, at the residence of the late Alhaji Uba Misilli, Dawaki Quarters, Gombe.

The Foundation is also calling on individuals, organisations and community stakeholders to join the collective effort to identify, enrol and support out-of-school and vulnerable children, while urging parents and guardians to ensure that children who are enrolled remain in school and take full advantage of the opportunity.

Education is not only about getting a child into the classroom; it is about opening the door to knowledge, opportunity and a better future.
